Janet Lomba's
Windsor Locks Library Story

I moved to Windsor Locks in 1988.  The first two things I did were register to vote and get a Windsor Locks Library card.  I have had a library card since I was 5 years old, in every town I lived.

As someone who always has a book, or two in progress, the library is an integral part of my life.   My library card has always been my way to explore the world beyond, thru  books, and now additionally, film, music, historical and scientific presentations, author visits and more.

Soon after I moved here, of our librarians noticed we had a common interest in mysteries, we became friends, and together we formed a Mystery Book Club, “The Christie Capers”.   We met monthly for many years, reading well over 100 books, having lively discussions, and meeting new friends.  One of our early members is now a published author in the cozy mystery genre.

I also became a volunteer, working at the book sales, which I continue to do to this day, to raise funds needed for special programs.

Several years ago I was asked if I would be interested in joining the Board of Directors, which I was honored to do.

Great things happen in, and because of our library.
