Children's Book of the Week:
'The Hello, Goodbye Window.'
Each week our children's librarian is going to choose a different book to feature that she thinks is special.
This week's book is 'The Hello, Goodbye Window,' by Norton Juster and illustrated by Chris Raschka.
This adorable picture book was written by the author of "The Phantom Tollbooth" and is all about a little girl's visit to her grandparents house. The visit focuses around the 'hello, goodbye window,' which is a special window where she loves to wave to her grandparents or watch for whose coming.
This book has abstract, but colorful illustrations that convey the happiness of the girl, and her love for her grandparents. There is some humor, and readers will come to love 'Nanna' and 'Poppy.'
Best for ages 2 and up.
