Picture Book Of the Week
This Story is Not About a Kitten
by Randall De Seve
Every week the children's librarian is going to pick out a picture book she thinks is special. This week's book is This Story is Not About a Kitten, written by Randall De Seve and Carson Ellis.
When a dog discovers a stray kitten under a car, people from the neighborhood come to help, and are introduced in the style of The House That Jack Built. Every character does something to help the kitten, but when they coax it from under the car no one is able to take it, until one little girl speaks up.
This rhyming story has a great message about caring and community. By helping the kitten, the characters get to know each other and start to form friendships. This book is great for reading aloud and children will love the satisfying ending and the colorful illustrations.
Best for ages 3-7.
